Mainstreet Project 2022
In 2022, the Shelburne & Area Chamber of Commerce received funding from ACOA for a series of projects that tied the funding in the business sector with a tourism focus. The overall strategic focus was to create and enhance current events, to engage with the local community, while creating reasons for tourists to come and explore all that we have to offer. Within the context of the Project, the Chamber created the following NEW events:
- Four Chamber-hosted events supporting local business and community, known as “The Business of Community Events”.
- Experience the Port of Shelburne – Supporting Cruise ship arrivals, the Chamber provided “Lobster Experiences” for Visitors which included educational experiences along with a “Tasting” luncheon.
- Signage project – in collaboration with the Municipality of Shelburne, and the Towns of Lockeport and Shelburne, this project erected eight billboard directional and visual signs plus four highway exit display signs to showcase our area and businesses.
- Special Events – a series of special events were held such as the Halloween Scarefest, a fun day of events for families and individuals ending in an adult Scare Barn and Dance. In November, a Pub Crawl event had participants visiting local businesses for a special beverage and finishing the crawl at Boxing Rock for an amazing concert-style night.
- Marketing and Promotion – a series of Radio advertising highlighting businesses and events, throughout the entire Project timeline.
